Our mission
The institute investigates avoidable risks of aesthetic treatments and develops publicly available, scientifically based help for safe decisions and treatment processes – regardless of the economic success of individual providers.
The focus is on information, advice, economic interests, responsibilities, handovers, documentation, follow-up and dealing with problems as a connected process chain.
Science, learning and accountable assessment
Our work combines scientific analysis, public learning materials, organisational assessment and continuing education. These activities remain separate so that a safety report does not become a sales opportunity and an assessment cannot be used to purchase a favourable outcome.
Not individual doctors, but defined organizational structures and processes are the subject of organizational certification. Responsibilities and services are described transparently.

Historical foundations
Two source-based programmes connect the study of care conditions and preventable harm with current questions of responsibility, assessment and learning. The history of these sources is distinct from the founding history of the institute.

Task and limits
The institute does not provide individual medical treatment or assess personal treatment decisions through the reporting form. It is not an emergency service, a court or a supervisory authority. Organisational assessment does not replace professional licensing or other required regulatory checks.
The word “National” in the name does not imply state ownership, a statutory mandate or a university affiliation. Any such recognition is stated only when supported by evidence.
